Goodbye Summer

Summer is my absolute favorite season of the year!
Think...
flip flops
popsicles
sunny days and starry nights
fireworks
bbq's and picnics
vacations
salt water and swimming pools
fresh berries
lemonade stands
...and so much more...
... i can b . a . r . e . l . y  stand it...
I'll miss you, so.

Despite it being a gorgeous day, I can't help but to morn summer
and begin planning for next year.

Since we've been focusing on the inside of the cottage
and even though we will continue to do so for a lifetime
{countertops, backsplash, farmhouse sink please?}
we hope to spread some our love to the exterior of the home in 2012.

Here's a refresher on how it's looking at the moment.

Some lawn and bed maintenance is in order along with a fresh coat of paint!

{bluish gray cedar shingles complimented by a muted yellow door}

{a blue front door is another option}

{or dark cedar shakes with soft white trim}

{adding a pergola over our garage}

{various shades of green}

{ivy cascading up the wall}

{window boxes full of greenery and flowers}

{lovely vine}

a girl can dream.

  1. I am sad to see summer go but have to say I am looking forward to fall. I love the crisp nights, apples, football and more. Looks like you have some great projects ahead. Can't wait to see how it all comes together.

  2. if we could only have summer and then fall and return to warm weather. it's the winter months that kill me! i do agree though, sweat shirts and football games sound exciting!

  3. The end of summer always makes me a little sad, but I do love fall and all that it brings.

    The images of exteriors are all so pretty. I want a pergola over our garage too. It will be fun to see what you do.
