Favorite Fixtures

I adore lighting.

For many, choosing light fixtures for their home can be a daunting task.  Walking into a store that carries nothing but lighting or a store that carries an abundance of fixtures can be extremely intimidating.  I used to feel that way.  We'd walk through the Home Depot and the lights would flicker on and off as if they were trying to confuse me.  Those sneaky lights.  As years passed, I began to develop more of an idea of what I liked.  I also knew where to shop.  It took making mistakes and taking chances.  Currently, the cottage has beautiful lights gracing the ceiling.  However, some of the fixtures are a bit too rustic/tuscan for my taste buds.  When touring the home prior to us signing the papers, I envisioned each room and what light or sconce would work and then reality hit me.  Lighting is expensive, my friends.  In our past home it took us years to change out each fixture.  My best advise is to either utilize Craigslist (can be your best friend) to sell your used lighting or find options that won't break the bank.  Here's some of the lighting in our house now...some has already been swapped!

So far we've changed two lights...

I could go on for days.
We're hoping to take a trip to the Ballard Designs Outlet.
Crossing fingers.
The Pottery Barn Outlet happens to be in close vicinity.
