Airing Out Our Dirty Laundry

Tomorrow is the big day!  The day we have been patiently waiting for since our move to the cottage approximately 17 whopping days ago!  Yep, we've been counting the days.   Ok, so I'll stop my rambling and show you what we were/are dealing with.
Here is the entrance to our current laundry/mudroom.  All the way down in the basement.  At our previous home, the bungalow, our laundry area resided in the basement too!  But this takes it to an entirely different level.  When viewing the house, this was the one thing that had me stopping in my anxious I'm obsessed with this house tracks.  Oh, you think I'm over reacting?  Don't say I didn't warn you.

Yikes!!! Want another?  Yeah, I didn't think so.  Brainstorming began.  Rob (that's the hubs) and I took a walk around the cottage looking for a more respectable area for our new steam front loaders.  I couldn't possibly stick those beauties in that dungeon.  It just wasn't an option.  Well, it sorta was.  Plumbing + electricity = money, money, money!  Why does money always have to get in the way?   = LIFE. ;)

P.S. I don't plan on keeping the dungeon in this state, either.  That's a down the road project.

Rob suggested having pipes and electricity ran to the side entry room.  That's why I love him.  It was the perfect area for laundry, coats, baskets and more pretty stuff.  Bet he wasn't thinking about baskets like I was.  In order to fit the washer and dryer we needed to remove the closet doors and make the inside of the closet look more like a nook and less like a closet.  Here are a few more pictures of the soon to be mudroom.

{There's the doors!}

                                          How about some inspiration for the room?
This is an all time favorite
Too bad I can't fit a utility sink in my mudroom.
Never say never...the dungeon needs a new sink ;)

Something about the red machines with
grayish/green beadboard cabinet has me swooning.

The dark wood floors and white beadboard ;)

Subway tile + dark grout + wire utility rolling basket = perfection

Now for a little bit more pretty...

Only because it's what keeps me sane during
this moving/settling in process

Here are some random shots of items from around the cottage!

{Just because I'm in love...}

{Our big hunky dunky lantern that will
strut his stuff above our dining room table!}

Thanks for stopping by!
